(YosîngSů) Happy New Year 2007
The last 3 months have been full. After completing REIGN OVER ME (out in March 2007) in September I went on to score Dan Waters' SEX & DEATH 101. It stars the heavenly Winona Rider, who was in another film Dan wrote, Heathers. It was fun to do.
There have been various musical events; the Notorious and Despicable Song Shop met twice, and a new event called YosîngSů (Car Park Singing) was launched. Basically I wanted to make use of cool reverby places in LA, such as parking structures, lobbies, tunnels, metro stations etc. So it is a gathering of singers in these seemingly random public places, who then are guided through some mesmerizing soft harmonic singing. It's really sweet sounding, and is like a bloom of colour in a grey concrete environment. The music is like a choir, but without any of the stuffiness, just the purity and warmth.
If anyone knows of any such spaces with beautiful echoes or long reverbs, do let me know, as they'd be great for YosîngSů. We love to sing in places with gentle human traffic passing by.
Now I need to get back to the GSBB and it's tribal soccer choir qualities.
Next on my schedule is Richard Shepard's film about chasing war criminals in Bosnia. I'm looking forward to that both for the change of pace, and because Richard is an old friend. We made a film called MERCY together (we both produced it) a decade ago, and each time he makes another film is a great reunion.
All the best to you for 2007. Rolfe

Hey, are there any plans for a Dexter soundtrack? I'd really like to hear the background music outside of the show.

yes, love your music. but there is one song i have been trying to track for quite sometime now. It is in the movie "wedding crashers" the piano theme at the end of the movie right befor the credits and they are driving off. I would love to know the name of that song. would love to listen to it. thanks for your time. Jeromi. ([email protected])
Jeromi,
the whole ending of the score is in the track "WINNING CLAIRE BACK" on the cd Wedding Crashers The Score. You can also get it from iTunes.
If that isn't what you are looking for then it must be a song, and I don't kno anything about the songs. Check the end of the credits for the song listings.

What have you been doing of late?
GG
I have only recently discovered some of your musical scores and I have been very impressed. If you could tell me where to get or even better send the sheet music for the song from wedding crashers entitled "The Crashers Masked and Expelled," that would be phenomal.
thanks

Hey Rolfe,
Up late and was having Dexter withdrawals and just googled over to your site. Beautiful work on Dexter's opening theme. Just...perfectly captures the show I think. Appreciate the late night diversion and you've made a fan out of me. Gonna check out your other stuff now. ^_^

The problem with many parking garages is that they deliberately try to reduce the reverberation with spray-foam or other construction materials. I'll keep an eye out though -- I mean "ear" out in the North County.
It seems darknesstear and I have the same idea. It would be awesome to be able to get my hands on the music from the show. Hope to hear plans of a soundtrack!
Was it all your work? The theme was incredible. Dark and upbeat all at the same time. I tip my hat to the first composer of a theme song I've felt compelled to look up!

On Dexter I simply wrote and recorded the main theme. All the background music is by someone else. I think it's Dan Licht; we should get in touch with him and see if he wants to put out a cd. Anyone know how to reach him?
