Dir: Mark S Waters

A new chance to work with Mark S Waters; he asked for a large orchestra to bring out the magic and the romance of this film. It was composed from mid April till mid June, with frequent visits from Mark to give me direction and to nuance the score the way he wanted. I was afraid that the theme I'd composed was too big, especially since Mark had said it should "not be operatic" in scale, and Nick had heard it and described it as being "as big as the Gobi desert". But Mark liked it, and after all it is only heard BIG at the very end of the film (it is generally on piano or strings before that).

The score was recorded at the Sony stage in Culver City, Ca. and mixed at Signet Sound in Hollywood in June 2005.

The crew: Tony Blondal orchestrated, Stephen Coleman programmed, Nick South music edited (assisted by Alice Woods), Steve Kempster mixed, and Vini Cirilli pro-tooled. Many thanks to Mark, to Veronica, to
Walter Parkes for his enthusiasm and input, and to Cindi at Dreamworks, and Glen at Sony records.
