Originally I intended to a simple "home" score, just a small ensemble. But as Grant and I worked on this we began to realise it needed more traditional storytelling. A bigger emotional canvas. So strings and horns entered the soundscape.

This film could have been Bob (Ewan McGregor)'s story, or Lyn Cassidy (George Clooney)'s story, but it was Bill (Jeff Bridges)'s Theme, based on the phrase "Be all that you can be", gradually became the main motif of the film. I think this is because it has a purity, an earnestness, which all these characters take on-board, so it really becomes the "jedis" theme.
