Simplicity is hard. I don't know why. But there is a habit of over-composing, putting in too much detail, getting too caught up in bits and pieces. And Jason is one of those directors who just helps distill the process and simplify. I write a piece with 8 parts; Jason comes in, listens, and has me take out 5 of them. So next I write a piece with 3 parts- Jason makes it 1. (This actually happened with the Boatride to the Hotel track- it was uke, strings, and harp- at the end it was just harp).

So that's Jason's great gift to me- to make me simplfy, and thus produce a much more elegant score.
